Strategic Planning Process at Brewster Baptist Church

While no specific stricture of confidentiality has been imposed
by the Senior Pastor on the conduct of the strategic planning
process, discretion is definitely in order. He plans to lead the
effort himself -- a wise move -- with the Associate Pastor and
I assisting.

It was my original idea to mount such, as seen in the blog
posting of April 14th, but I am very glad that he is in charge,
and that I can contribute. We began with the first item, "Who
are our present members?" That calls for a detailed survey, or
census of the whole congregation. I have prepared a draft,
which is now in the second edition, following our recent
meeting.

With that in hand, we can get a better fix on who are likely
candidates for membership. The Pew Research Report on
Religious Life in American is invaluable for the facts, but
disheartening in the conclusions. Still, it is a useful model,
as our congregation seems to be about the same distribution.
We will know some time this summer, when we have
tabulated the survey.
